FAQs

What is Microblading?

Microblading is the process of implanting color pigment beneath the surface of the skin by means of a small, sterile, disposable needle to produce the appearance of fuller eyebrows or to enhance the natural features of the face.

How long does microblading last?

The treatment is considered semi-permanent and will not wash off, however, it will fade over time and may need a follow up every 1-2 years. Frequency of follow ups depends on a number of factors including: the pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster), lifestyle (sun exposure, sweat), iron deficiency (your body absorbs iron-oxide as a supplement), and if any chemical peels and strong skincare come into contact with treated areas. Please note that final results cannot be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold onto pigments differently and break down at different rates. The tattooed hair strokes tend to have a more crisp look once healed on dry skin compared to more blurry strokes on oily skin. I will re-evaluate how your skin has retained the pigment at your follow up appointment and make any changes necessary. Follow ups are normal for cosmetic tattoo procedures, which allows artists to build up the brows over 2 sessions for greater results. The initial procedure is generally followed by a second appointment about 6-12 weeks later.

Is the follow up appointment included?

No, the follow up appointment is a separate cost.

How long should I plan for my appointment?

Approximately 2 hours.

Does microblading hurt?

To keep clients as comfortable as possible, I use a numbing cream prior to the service, and a numbing gel during the service. Pain threshold varies from person to person and depends on a variety of individual factors.

How many treatments are needed?

For most clients, two treatments are needed, at least 6 weeks apart. With most procedures, the color fades over the first few weeks. Some clients prefer this, while others want a bolder look. At the second appointment, we can assess the color retention and make adjustments as necessary. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. If your cosmetic tattoo does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry! We can always go darker and add more density at your next appointment.

How will I look immediately after? What is the healing process?

Your semi-permanent makeup will appear darker and bolder than expected for the first few days. This is totally normal and not how they eventually heal. Your brows will gradually lighten during the healing process. Redness is usually minimal. Please review and follow the aftercare instructions for the best results.

How will my cosmetic tattoo heal over time?

Depending on lifestyle, skincare products, and a variety of other factors, a client’s tattoo fades naturally over time. The strokes appear crisp at first, and eventually soften. There are some cases where an individual’s response to pigment may fade into different tones. At your next appointment, we can make necessary adjustments as needed. In general, after the first two appointments, most clients are in need of a touch up every 1-2 years.

Can I get my eyebrows microbladed if they were previously tattooed?

In some instances, yes. Since this is a case by case basis, you must contact me for approval BEFORE booking your appointment or you may risk losing your deposit.

Can I exercise after getting a cosmetic tattoo?

You must avoid working out/sweating for 5-7 days following your cosmetic tattoo appointment. Light exercising is allowed (minimal sweating), but you MUST clean the tattooed area with lukewarm water as soon as you are done exercising. The salt in sweat can fade the pigment very quickly and can lead to poor results.

Can I get tattooed if I am currently doing chemotherapy?

You must have been cleared by your doctor to get tattooed prior to starting chemotherapy, or once you are finished with the treatments.

Please prepare ahead of time by avoiding extreme sun exposure for 14 days (for instance, do not show up to your appointment with a sunburn!). Also, plan to keep your brows out of the sun for 14 days after the procedure, as it can affect healing and retention.
